Standard Timing Model Skills Assessment DeviceThe Standard Timing Model is our mechanical skills assessment tool used to identify mechanical aptitude, skills, and instincts when hiring machine operators, mechanics, assemblers, or technicians. There are varying degrees of difficulty “assessment tasks” depending on the position you’re hiring for. The mechanical skills assessment for a maintenance mechanic position is more difficult than the skills assessment for an entry level operator.

The process identifies skills such as troubleshooting ability, spatial recognition, quality differentiation, hand-eye coordination, cognitive reasoning, and the understanding of mechanical Stroke, Timing, and Position.

Identifying The Right Candidate For The Job

The Standard Timing Model is unique in that the assessment machine has the capability to identify "mechanical instinct". With forty years of mechanical skills assessment data we know that when we test a pool of candidates that have had no training or exposure to a mechanical environment we will identify approximately 20% of these individuals as having innate mechanical ability. These individuals are mechanically inclined, possessing strong mechanical instinct. They are highly trainable, excellent candidates for entry level positions and apprentice programs.

Benefits of Ownership

Besides the convenience of having the right testing equipment on-site, on-demand, ownership also gives you the opportunity to build in-house training and apprentice programs. In additon, you can also evaluate your current team for placement into other departments thus maximizing your current workforce. Ownership includes assessment methodology training for incumbent(s) at your facility.

Our Standard Time Model equipment is also available for lease. SMT can conduct the assessments at our location, in your facility, or we can train your incumbents the assessment methodology.
